Glymed Plus Intense Peptide Recovery Complex - 1 oz

NEW! In the endless quest to outrun aging, consumers will go to great lengths. The most popular wrinkle prevention process involves inactive botulinum toxin injected under the skin to paralyze facial muscles and reduce wrinkles. But what if you are afraid of needles? What if you want something that is less invasive? What if you simple want to reduce wrinkles while revitalizing your skin?

Christine Heathman - LMT, CME, Author, Industry Innovator, Educator, CEO and Founder of Glymed Plus has the solution: Glymed Plus Intense Peptide Skin Recover Complex. As with all Glymed Plus products, this multi-peptide skin treatment is based in sound science that works at the cellular level. Peptides are imperative to cellular health, she says. When you envision a skin cell compromised by something like UV radiation, it sets off a cascade of inflammatory responses that compromise cellular health. This damages the amino acid fragments that form the peptides that are part of the key proteins making up your skin. The result is long-term cellular breakdown.

Seven Proteins, One Solution
Human skin is largely comprised of a foundation of key proteins: hormones, enzymes, cell membrane receptors, keratin, melanin, seven types of collagen, and hemoglobin. Like all proteins, they are built of amino acid chains called polypeptides. When something from the environment such as UV rays or smoking attacks skin cells, these amino acid chains can be broken, harming cellular integrity and contributing to skin damage.

Ms. Heathman asserts that Glymed Plus Intense Peptide Recovery Complex is the answer to the damage and something more as well. This topical cosmeceutical contains four types of beneficial peptides that support skin cell integrity, promote the formation of collagen and Elastin, foster improved circulation and counter bacterial infections. But what makes Glymed Plus Intense Peptide Recovery Complex unique is that it also contains a neural peptide, Acetyl Hexapeptide 3, which inhibits the release of neural transmitters and relaxes facial tension, leading to relaxation of the facial muscles. In essence, this product offers wrinkle reduction that is non-invasive. And that’s just the beginning.

This is completely safe, says Heathman. It doesn’t require a physician and doesn’t require needles. People with autoimmune diseases can use it, and the body doesn’t build up immunity to it. Plus, those beneficial peptides are supporting cellular health, hydrating the skin, and preventing the inflammation that is linked to aging. They increase hydration by 50% and reduce wrinkles by 65%. This is real skin care.

What is a Peptide?
A peptide is the formation of two or more Alpha Amino Acids. Twenty of these amino acids combine, using a peptide bond, to form peptides. A molecule containing two amino acids joined by a peptide bond is a dipeptide; one with three amino acids held together by two peptide bonds is a tripeptide; four is a tetrapeptide; five is a pentapeptide; etc. In general, Peptides contain 12 or fewer amino acid residues. An Oligopeptide contains between 12 and 20 amino acids and a polypeptide, or protein, contains greater than 20 amino acids.

Peptides and the Epidermis
The stratum corneum, which forms a boundary between the living system and the environment, has two important functions. One is to act as a water-impermeable barrier, constructed from the corneocytes and intercellular lipid domain. Peptide-lipid interactions play a critical role in the regulation of several biological phenomena, including the binding of enzymes, cellular communication mediating differentiation and proliferation, and/or inhibiting specific biochemical pathways. Peptides, and the proteins they formulate, coax aging skin to produce collagen along with increasing the synthesis of water-holding proteoglycans and glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), which hold moisture in the skin. They also activate metalloproteinases that remove damaged proteins such as in scars and photo-damaged skin.

The final Piece in the Puzzle
Ms. Heathman adds that this peptide-rich formula is not a substitute for antioxidants. It is only one aspect of a complete skin care regimen that should be administered by a skin care or medical professional. Peptides are the missing piece in skin care, she says. But you still need an antioxidant to protect the cellular structure from free radical damage, alpha-hydroxy acids to stimulate cellular and collagen growth, and you need the peptides. Together, all three are part of an extremely effective anti-aging program.

How does Intense Peptide Cream differ from WRx?
WRx includes Acetyl Hexapeptide-3, a neural peptide, which relaxes facial tension and subsequently relaxes facial muscles that contribute to lines and wrinkles. IPSRC incorporates this same peptide but in a higher amount. In addition, IPSRC also incorporates 4 additional peptides that help build collagen, provide anti inflammatory properties, and speeds tissue regeneration. (For specific peptides and effects, see the January 07 newsletter). In addition to the peptides, this product also contains Ceramide 2, Vitamin E, Bearberry and Licorice Root, and a new ingredient Sea Whip which soothes and calms Rosacea.

What GlyMed Plus treatment product does this replace?
This product does not replace any previous GlyMed Plus product but is the final piece to the puzzle. This is the first GlyMed Plus Age Management product that introduces peptides to the home care regime. Peptides, along with antioxidants, AHA’s and sun protection are a complete force against aging skin.

What is the delivery system of IPSRC?
There are two major delivery systems. One surrounds the liposome delivery of the key anti-oxidants and the other (the key delivery) is three of the peptides. They are Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-3, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-3. These link to the cell membrane by their glycolipid or phospholipids anchor. In addition, other proteins/amino acid chains that are linked to or embedded in the cell membrane may associate with them via their amino acid structures (protein-protein interactions) on the outer face of the cell membrane. The peptide chains may interact directly with lipids in the bilayer of the cellular membrane—this is key in delivering the active ingredients.

Where do I incorporate this product into my home care?
To work along with the Circadian Rhythms of the skin, the IPSRC should be applied morning and night. In the morning the skin requires anti-inflammatories and antioxidants. It should be the final step before applying sun protection. At night, due to its ability to assist in the production of collagen, it is used as a treatment product and should be applied after any liquids or serums and because it is a light cream should go on before Treatment Cream or Repair Cream or after Vital A. Remember, this incredible delivery system increases the bioavailability of your other GlyMed Plus products.

Like WRx, do I only concentrate on the areas of the face more susceptible to wrinkling?
No, because of all of the additional benefits of IPSRC including collagen synthesis, tyrosinase inhibition, anti-inflammatory application should cover the entire face and can be extended to the neck, chest and back of hands.
